Seymour Tri Kappa kicks off 95th year

The annual corporate business meeting of the Seymour Gamma Phi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Inc. was held Aug. 16 at the home of Erin Schepman.

The evening began with the initiation of new members Patricia DuSablon and Sarah Lemming. Patricia, the mother-in-law of chapter President Vanessa DuSablon, is office manager for BP2 Construction in Seymour. Sarah, the daughter of longtime member Julie Lemming, will be a student at Xavier University this fall. A warm welcome to both.

After the ceremony, the sisters kicked off the new year with a pitch-in meal, followed by a business meeting to get things started. Fall is always a busy time, and this year is no exception.

Program Chair Stacey Williams provided an update about this year’s meeting plans, which will include efforts to have a fun activity or event at each meeting led by Just for Fun Chair Marla Sciarra. With such a busy group of women, it is sometimes a challenge to schedule extra time for other events, so combining business and pleasure is always a good plan.

Other committees reporting included College Hugs, chaired by Brandi Musgrave; Scrapbook, chaired by Lara Wheeler; Meals on Wheels, chaired by Jerilyn Mellencamp; Ritual, chaired by Kate Stahl; Mental Health, chaired by Julie Lemming; Pecans, chaired by Kristi Murphy; and Oktoberfest, chaired by Michal Leah Bevers.

Preparations for the annual Oktoberfest cakewalk are already underway, and nut sales will begin at the September meeting and close in October.

The Gamma Phis look forward to celebrating their 95th anniversary at next month’s meeting.
