What made you want to pick up this book in the first place?

I found the book because it was on the bestseller list and had great reviews. I don’t normally read fantasy, but I wanted to try something different.

I was enthralled in the story from the beginning and rooting for the protagonist, and I wanted to see where she was going to end up.

Once you finished the book, what did you like about it?

I liked the book because it had a little bit of everything: Fantasy, drama, romance, history. I loved traveling through time and seeing the world through Addie’s eyes.

What is the book about?

Addie LaRue is an unmarried 23-year-old who still lives with her parents and is already considered a lost cause by 18th century France standards. In a desperate attempt to escape an arranged marriage and her fate sealed, she makes a deal with a mysterious stranger. She becomes immortal; however, everyone who meets her forgets her after they part. The narrative switches between present day and the 18th century and follows Addie’s immortal journey over the course of 300 years.

Why would you recommend this book to others?

It is just great storytelling. This book defies genres, and I think everyone can find something in it they will like. It is a tremendous and glorious read. “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” is available at the Jackson County Public Library or digitally through Libby.
