Families invited to register for free Summer Jam at Seymour church

If you have children who are preschool through fifth grade, Point Kids children’s ministry at The Point invites your whole family to come to the free Summer Jam event from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Summer Jam will highlight the summer theme from the Point Kids Sunday morning programming, which has been “Make Waves.” Through this theme and at Summer Jam, kids will learn the importance of biblical characteristics, like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control.

The evening will have dinner provided, inflatables, games and contests at the church, 311 Myers St., Seymour.

The highlight of the evening will be “The Chalkguy” Ben Glenn, an award-winning artist, speaker and author from Indianapolis. He has been a full-time speaker for 25 years, traveling all over the United States and around the globe.

His story of growing up as a learning disabled student with ADHD and his live art demonstration have inspired thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds and earned him the moniker “The Chalkguy.” He is the author of “Simply Special: Learning to Love Your ADHD” and the founder of the Chalkguy Lego drive.

Guardian Bikes, a children’s bicycle company that recently moved its production to Seymour, has donated eight of its 20-inch Ethos bikes to be used for a drawing at Summer Jam.

All families must preregister for this free event due to seating capacity, which will enter them in the bike drawing.

Any families wishing to check in 1- to 3-year-old toddlers for child care can indicate this on their registration. Child care workers are background checked and trained to serve with Point Kids.

The Point Safety Team also will be present to make Summer Jam safe and secure.
