Order of the Eastern Star installs officers

Seymour Chapter 134 Order of the Eastern Star held its annual installation of officers Friday evening at Jackson Masonic Lodge in Seymour.

The following officers were installed: Worthy Matron, Robbie Anderson; Worthy Patron, Marvin “Chig” Anderson; Associate Matron, Paula Stafford; Associate Patron, Rick Smith; Secretary, Pat Cummings; Treasurer, Nancy Byrns; Conductress, Karen Walker; Associate Conductress, Janice Brock; Chaplain, Margaret Kroman; Marshal, Kathy Coffelt; Organist, Judi Brown; Ruth, Linda Myers; Esther, Ollie Knott; Martha, Jeannie Pfeiffer; Electa, Loretta Riehl, Past Grand Matron; Warder, Denver Gray, Grand Marshal; and Sentinel, Tom Stafford. Wanda Gray has been appointed Adah and will be installed at a later date.

Installing Officer Terrie Barber was assisted by Installing Marshal Lisa Wagoner, Installing Chaplain Jerry Lemmon and Installing Organist Jodi Robinson. The photographer for the evening was Stephen Kroman, grand photographer of the Grand Lodge F&AM.

Following the installation ceremony, guests adjourned to the dining room, where a cake centered with the Eastern Star emblem and the names of the Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron was served along with punch, sandwiches and chips.

The Worthy Matron has selected as her motto “Always be Humble and Kind” and watch words of faith, love and kindness. Her scripture is Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Her emblems are the open Bible, the cross and angels, and her fun symbols are porcelain bears and butterflies.

Wives, daughters, mothers, widows, sisters and other female relatives of Master Masons, three-year majority Rainbow Girls or Jobs Daughters and Master Masons are eligible for membership in Order of the Eastern Star. Stated meetings of the chapter are at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Those eligible for membership may contact Jackson Masonic Lodge for information.

Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women belong. Philanthropic funds to which the order contributes include ICAN Service Dogs, Royal Arch Research Assistance, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation, Cancer, Heart, Masonic Family Youth and ESTARL (religious leadership training) scholarships and the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park.
