Thumbs up to the six Seymour FFA members awarded their Hoosier FFA Degree during the recent Indiana FFA Convention in Indianapolis. They are Kiley Sons, Caroline Thompson, Mackenzie Waskom, Jillian Tormoehlen, Trevor Wiesehan and Wyatt Wischmeier. A related thumbs up to Seymour FFA member Audrey Newkirk, who won the Freshman Creed Speaking Contest, and Seymour FFA Adviser Jeanna Eppley, who was awarded the prestigious Indiana FFA Honorary Hoosier Degree.
Thumbs up also goes to the Crothersville FFA chapter members recognized with awards during the 93rd annual state convention. Kaylyn Holman and Evin Hoevener received their Hoosier FFA Degree. The chapter won first place in the Living to Serve Safety Initiative and was recognized as a Superior Chapter and a Bronze Emblem Donor.
Winning cards
Thumbs up to Les and Betty Tormoehlen of Brownstown for winning the annual Gamma Phi chapter of Tri Kappa’s charity euchre tournament for the 2021-22 season. The tournament serves as a source of many of the local activities the chapter supports, including scholarships, Riley Hospital for Children and local nursing homes.
Gold medalists
Thumbs up to Indiana University women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren, who helped USA Basketball’s U18 women’s team win a gold medal in the FIBA U18 Women’s Championships on Sunday night in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Moren, a Seymour native, served as an assistant coach for the squad, which earned the gold medal after beating Canada in the finals. This marked her first official stint with USA Basketball after serving as a court coach during the trials in 2021.
National titlists
Thumbs up to the five gymnasts from Gymnastics Lane in Seymour who earned national rankings during the National Gymnastics Association’s nationals meet in the convention center in Orlando, Florida. Those earnings earning national titles were Kinley Beard who finished third on the beam and Mia Dailey who finished first in the floor and third in the all-around.
