STEPS celebrates end-of-season joys

STEPS Dance Center had a fun end to the season with its solos having top overall placements, senior team receiving third place overall and youth team earning top 10 overall and a bid to the Dance Summit.

The youth team competed in Orlando, Florida.

The Dance Summit is an invitation-only event, making this a special opportunity to receive, said Sarah Arnold, owner of STEPS Dance Center in Seymour.

“It was our first bid to Summit since 2018,” she said. “With only being two points away from making it into Day 2 finals, they gave it the best they could and made memories to last a lifetime at Disney World. We are so grateful for the friends, families and community members of Jennings/Jackson County that supported fundraising efforts for them to be able to attend.”

The dance center’s season ended with the all-star teams, sparkles and recreational classes taking the stage at Seymour High School’s Earl D. Prout Auditorium for some great performances.

Arnold said there is still time to register for the short summer session that will perform at the Jackson County Fair. The session started the week of June 6.

All-star placement clinics will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at STEPS, 414 W. Second St., Suite G, Seymour.

Want to be part of a team but not experience full travel experience? Arnold said registration for that will start after July 1 by clicking on the Sparkle tab at danceatsteps.com.

Recreational class options will be open for registration during the month of August, and classes will begin the second week of September.
