Cortland celebrates end of another school year with annual grand prix

The end of the school year means one thing at Cortland Elementary School: It’s time for the Cortland Grand Prix.

In the annual event, each grade level has four to six students compete in heats to determine a grade level winner. Then each of those winners goes against another grade level. For example, fourth and fifth grade winners compete and the winner moves on.

This year’s winner was fifth-grader Parker Runge.

“We have done this event for many years, and the students look forward to it each year,” Principal Lori Lister said. “Every student will get to compete at least one time in their time at Cortland.”
