The Kum Join Us homemakers met May 3 at the Rose Acre Farms corporate office.
Ruth Ann Hendrix served as hostess of the meeting, which opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and club creed.
The roll call question was “Do you like to fish?” The eight in attendance responded they hadn’t fished in a while but enjoyed the solitude while fishing.
Plans for the Jackson County Indiana Extension Homemakers Association Achievement Night on May 12 were finalized. The club’s June 9 outing to Zaharakos and Simply Pottery was discussed, and a reservation at Simply Pottery was made by Olga Otte.
Manda Otte presented the lesson on getting outdoors and offline this summer. Members were asked to close their eyes and remember things they did outside as children to bring them joy. She also gave members ideas on state parks to visit and ideas of what to do while visiting. The cost to visit parks was discussed.
Hendrix read from the book “The Gifts of Gratitude” by M.J. Ryan. Chicken salad croissants and peanut butter pie from Cortland Diner were enjoyed by all.
