Beck’s Mill is hosting a May Day event that is going to be filled with live music and demonstrations from a variety of talented artists.

It will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 14 at the mill, 4433 S. Beck’s Mill Road, Salem. The admission fee is $5 for adults and free for ages 16 and under with an adult present.

There will be a Civil War encampment, blacksmith demonstrations, a student art show and moonshining skits. A chicken barbecue meal for $9 will be provided by Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

“This is going to be our biggest event of the year,” said Judy Quinlin, secretary of the organization’s board of directors. “It should be a fun-filled day for the entire family to enjoy.”

The event also will serve to honor the deceased volunteers the organization has lost in the past five years. The goal is to bring awareness and memorialize the fallen volunteers while filling Beck’s Mill with lots of energy and fun activities.
