Seymour woman arrested on drug charges after theft at store

A Seymour woman was arrested on drug charges after a theft at Walmart Supercenter led to officers discovering she was carrying methamphetamine and marijuana, police said.

Lacey A. Mousa, 28, was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; theft, a Level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a news release from Seymour Police Department Lt. C.J. Foster, the case has been forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office requesting Mousa be charged with theft while having a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.

At 11:23 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to Walmart Supercenter, 1600 E. Tipton St., Seymour, in reference to a report that a woman, later identified as Mousa, and a man had “skip scanned” items at a self-checkout station and didn’t pay for them, Foster said.

Scotty A. Barker Jr., 32, of Seymour, identified as the male with Mousa, was charged with felony theft and received a court summons.

Officers determined Mousa and Barker moved items past the point of sale without paying for them, Foster said. This led to a search of Mousa, where more than 44 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash were found, police said.
