The Friends and Neighbors Home Extension Club met March 22 in the community room at the new Crossroads Senior Apartment Homes.
The members and guest Betty Green responded to the roll call, “Have you ever experienced a tornado?”
President Ruby Niccum called the group together with the Pledge of Allegiance and club creed. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were presented and approved.
Donna Abner collected $15 dues from each member present. Niccum then opened the floor for nominations for officers for the next year.
Elected were president Ruby Niccum; vice president Charlotte Lovegrove; secretary Helen Lutes; treasurer Donna Abner; devotional leaders Ruth Bateman and Jan Caplinger; song leader is unfilled; continuing education Rhonda Kidwell; leadership development Vera Robbins; volunteer community support Donna Abner; and reporter Helen Lutes.
Information on health issues of members Mary Jo Morris, Shirley Sears, Louise Cox and Pegi Bricker was given and also for county President Olga Otte.
Niccum reported the closing of two county home extension clubs, Pine Ridge and Sauers. She also mentioned the Bedford spring district meeting was held March 9 as both an open meeting and a Zoom meeting.
Niccum reminded everyone of the Jackson County Achievement Night meeting May 12 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Borchers. It is a bring-your-own-sack dinner, and attendees are asked to bring nonperishable foods for Community Provisions of Jackson County.
It was noted of the good job done by Molly Marshall and Leu Crew on the tell-a-homemaker March issue.
The club’s next meeting will be April 26 at Crossroads with Antonia Rodriguez serving as hostess.
The meeting adjourned so everyone could tour the apartment of Betty Green.
