Fatal wreck reported west of Seymour

Seymour police continue to investigate the cause of a wreck that left a 63-year-old Brownstown woman dead on Monday morning on the far west side of the city.

Police were dispatched at approximately 9:31 a.m. after receiving a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 5000 block of West Tipton Street, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster.

Foster said when officers arrived at the scene, they were able to determine a 2012 GMC Acadia driven by Vicky J. Pittman was traveling west on Tipton Street when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over at least one time.

Pittman was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, Foster said.

The city’s vehicle crash unit was assisted by crash investigators with the Indiana State Police and personnel with the Seymour Fire Department, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and Jackson County Coroner’s Office.
