Police conducting death investigation

BROWNSTOWN— Detectives with the Indiana State Police Versailles Post began conducting a death investigation Sunday after an adult male was found deceased in a vehicle in Brownstown.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., the Brownstown Police Department responded to a call of an unresponsive man in a vehicle near the address of 917 S. Main St.

Officers responding to the scene located the man in a vehicle parked along the street near the residence. Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department also responded to provide medical aid.

It was soon determined the adult male had already passed away. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday afternoon to determine the cause of death. The identity of the deceased man also was expected to be released Monday after the identity was confirmed and the family was notified.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, the man’s name had not been released, and no new details about his death were available from state police.

Indiana State Police detectives are being assisted in the ongoing investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Brownstown Police Department and Jackson County Coroner’s Office.
