Medora gets win over Washington Catholic

The Medora boys basketball team came within the final minute of two games last week to get wins against Crothersville and Cannelton, but the Hornets couldn’t capitalize in key moments.

On Saturday, however, Medora left no doubt about the final score as the Hornets hosted Washington Catholic and scored a 64-36 victory.

Braxton McCory had a big night for the Hornets, scoring 29 points while making nine 3-point baskets. McCory’s other two points came at the free-throw line.

Shepard Earl scored 12 points, Eli Sturgill had 11, Dawson Cornett had seven and Isaiah Miller had five.

It was Medora’s fourth win on the season, improving their record to 4-18 on the year. The Hornets will close out their regular season this Friday night when they host Rising Sun.

Braves continue winning streak

The Brownstown Central boys basketball team won its seventh-straight game on Saturday night when the Braves hosted Providence.

Brownstown was fresh off clinching a share of the Mid-Southern Conference title on Friday night at Eastern (Pekin), and the Braves took care of business against Providence, winning the game 81-68.

Brownstown is now 19-3 on the season and hasn’t dropped a game since Jan. 29.

The Braves will try to keep their winning streak alive to close out their regular season this Friday when they play at Orleans.

Tigers lose to Henryville

The Crothersville boys basketball team hosted Henryville on Saturday night for its second game in as many days.

The Tigers suffered an 81-46 loss in The Jungle.

Henryville held a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and extended that to double digits by halftime, 35-22.

The third quarter was Crothersville’s best scoring quarter, putting up 15 points in that frame as Henryville led 56-37 heading into the fourth.

Preston West led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points, followed by Zach Helt with eight, Beau Napier four, Devin Morgan four, Damian Bowman four, Matt Clouse three, Adam Turner three and Lucas Hilton two.

Crothersville, now 3-18 this season, will close out the regular season this Friday at home against Austin.
