Police warn motorists of slick roads; northbound Interstate 65 shut down because of crash

The Indiana State Police are warning motorists that there are numerous slick roads this morning across the area.

Crashes have been reported on Interstate 65, primarily in southern Bartholomew County and northern Jackson County and on Interstate 74 in Decatur County, according to Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Meyer also is reporting that the northbound lanes of I-65 at the 59 mile marker are shut down at this time because of a crash involving two semis and three passenger vehicles.

Meyer said motorists should expect lengthy delays.

Wheeles, the public information officer for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post, advises motorists to use extreme caution this morning.

Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer also is reporting several slide-offs and wrecks this morning. He is urging everyone to leave early and to drive safely.

Medora Community Schools will be operating on a two-hour delay this morning, and Crothersville Community Schools is closed and on an eLearning schedule. No other reports of school delays or closures in the county are available at this time.
