Brownstown scores win in tournament

The Brownstown boys basketball team started out the North Daviess Tournament on a good note on Tuesday afternoon with a win over Rock Creek.

The Braves defeated Lions 58-42.

Jack Benter led Brownstown in scoring with 29 points. Carter Waskom scored eight points, Bryce Neal and Aidan Schroer each scored seven points, Adam Stahl had four, Parker Hehman scored two and Carson Darlage had one.

With the win, Brownstown is now 7-0 on the season and advances to the semifinals of the North Daviess Tournament later tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Brownstown is slated to play the winner of Loogootee and Paoli later tonight, and the winner of that game will play in the championship game on Thursday night.

Wrestling

Seymour advances at Mooresville

Seymour competed in the Mooresville Tournament on Tuesday morning, and the Owls are advancing one to the next day.

Ricky Bogard won his matches and will be competing again on Wednesday morning for a chance to try to win the 113 weight class.

Rolando Baltazar was one match away from placing in the 120 weight class, but he came up just short.

Head coach Dan Rasey said the rest of the team struggled to create much momentum.

Competition will resume at Mooresville on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
