Boys and Girls Club of Seymour holds championship game

On Tuesday night, the Boys and Girls Club of Seymour held its championship game for the third/fourth grade basketball league.

The Warriors battled the undefeated Bucks. The game started with scoring by both teams, as it was tied at 4 early in the first half. Baskets by David Lemming, Gunnar Williams and Silas Reynolds gave the Warriors a 12-6 lead. Walter Findley quickly responded with two scores of his own, making the score 12-10 heading into halftime.

Quickly out of the break, the second half started all in favor of the Warriors as they took an 18-10 lead with 13 minutes left. The Warriors never looked back, as they responded to every Bucks score and carried themselves to a 28-16 victory. The Warriors claimed the title champions of the 2021 Boys and Girls Club third/fourth grade basketball league.

“Thank you to everyone who participated this year,” said Brandon Terrell, athletic director for the Boys and Girls Club of Seymour. “We had an extremely competitive league in which every single player got better and improved their basketball skills. We hope to see them here again next season, if not playing for their fifth grade teams.”

Final score: Warriors 28, Bucks 16

Bucks scoring: Walter Findley 8 points, Bentley Trinkle 8 points, Bryson Rambo, Carter Johnson, Khai Holle, Maverick Ruzicka, Ezra Cuellar.
