CLEARSPRING

June Marlene Cockerham, age 84, of Clearspring, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus.

Mrs. Cockerham was a life-time member of Clearspring Baptist Church, where she was the song leader.

June was a homemaker and a teacher’s aide, and she was a member of Medora Senior Citizens. She loved singing and bird watching.

Born on May 29, 1937, in Clearspring, she was the daughter of Glen and Goldie Stilwell Cockerham, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 20, 1955, at Clearspring Baptist Church, she married Neal Cockerham and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2005.

Survivors include two sons: Gregory D. Cockerham of Medora, and Jeremy G. Cockerham of New Castle; one daughter, Angela K. Cockerham of Brownstown; son-in-law, Konrad Meinzer; eight grandchildren: Crystal Cockerham, Kalvin Meinzer, Westley Meinzer, Tyler Cockerham, Aliya Stoner, Jade Cockerham, Steven Stout, and Kayla Stout; and four great-grandchildren: Dylan Cockerham, Kayden Meinzer, Evan Wiles, and Oliver Meinzer.

June was also preceded in death by two sons: Edwin Cockerham and Eric Cockerham; one daughter, Cheryl Meinzer; and one sister, Velda Wolfe.

Funeral services for June Marlene Cockerham will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Clearspring Baptist Church with Pastor David Sawyers officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Clearspring Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Smallwood Cemetery, Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
