Monthlong book stroll planned for holidays

Seymour Main Street, The Magic of Books Bookstore, the Jackson County Public Library and the city of Seymour have put together another family-friendly outdoor activity for all ages this holiday season.

Jingle Book is a monthlong book stroll, taking readers along downtown sidewalks to enjoy reading the pages of “Tiny Tree” by Seymour author Suzanne Hill with illustrations by Molly Hill.

From Wednesday through Dec. 31, 18 stores will display poster-size pages of the book in their storefront windows with QR codes to document your stroll. Read each page, scan the QR codes to fill out the corresponding web entry and automatically be entered to win prizes. The winners will be drawn at random from all those who complete the stroll.

Prizes include copies of “Tiny Tree.” four admission tickets to the Kentucky Derby Museum and a $100 gift card to The Magic of Books Bookstore, courtesy of Tim Hill. The winners will be drawn and notified Jan. 3. A Spanish-translated version also will be available.

The free event promotes literacy, downtown Seymour and walking in a way families can enjoy together.

The map, which shows the stops in order, can be found by visiting seymourmainstreet.org or themagicofbooksbookstore.com.

Additionally, stop by the bookstore, 113 W. Second St., to drop off your child’s letter to Santa. A red letters to Santa box is on display in front of the store. Letters dropped off by Dec. 13 will be personally replied by and mailed back before Christmas. Letters dropped off after Dec. 13 will need to pick up Santa’s reply in-store.
