Rally for Ta’Neasha is set to take place Nov. 16 in front of the Jackson County Courthouse in Brownstown.

It will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with speakers starting at 10:30 a.m.

Ta’Neasha Chappell is a 23-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, woman who died July 16 while in custody of the Jackson County Jail.

The rally was announced in a news release from Maxwell Mitchell.

“Her family has yet to receive answers as to what specifically caused her death nor a death certificate. They want to be heard, they want the footage and they want justice,” the news release states. “A group named Justice 4 Louisville is putting together a rally in Jackson County to give the family just that, a stage to voice their concerns and be heard.”

LaVita McClain and Ronesha Murrell, Chappell’s mother and sister, are speaking at the rally.

Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory from the social justice organization Until Freedom also will speak. Both were two of four co-chairs of the 2017 Women’s March.

An ex-inmate of the jail and Tahasha Halloway, a nurse, will speak, too.
