IHSAA reveals tennis sectional pairings

The IHSAA released the tennis sectional pairings on Monday night through a livestream on the IHSAA network.

The Seymour sectional, hosted at Seymour High School, will feature Seymour, Brownstown Central and Trinity Lutheran.

First up competing will be Seymour, who will have a match with Austin on Wednesday. The Owls have yet to meet Austin this season.

If Seymour were to win that matchup on Wednesday, it would then play Scottsburg on Thursday in the semifinal. The Owls have already beat Scottsburg once this season, sweeping them 5-0 on April 13.

The Owls have been having a tremendous season already, only suffering losses to No. 4-ranked Columbus North and an Oldenburg team who was previously ranked in the top-30.

Seymour is fresh off winning the Hoosier Hills Conference last week, defeating No. 22-ranked Floyd Central in the semifinals 3-2 and beating New Albany in the title match 3-2.

The Owls will need two wins this week to reach the sectional championship match.

The other side of the sectional bracket will feature Brownstown versus Trinity on Thursday night. The winner of that contest will advance to the sectional title match on Friday.

The Braves suffered a 4-1 defeat to Edinburgh on Monday, and the Cougars defeated Southwestern (Shelby) 4-1 on Monday.

Brownstown and Trinity played one another on April 20, and the Cougars prevailed 4-1. However, there were a couple three-set matches, so it could be a close match come Thursday.

All matches will be held at Seymour High School this week, starting Wednesday and concluding Friday.
