Trinity defeats West Washington 2-1

Trinity Lutheran’s softball team scored runs in the first and sixth innings to edge West Washington 2-1 on the Senators’ diamond Tuesday afternoon.

Trinity scored a run in the first inning on a walk to Bailey Tabeling, two stolen bases and a throwing error.

Trinity had 2 hits and both came in the sixth inning when Tabeling, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by Genesis Munoz.

Kamzi Gross was the winning pitcher as she gave up 5 hits with 4 strike outs, and shut out the Senators until the seventh when they took advantage of 3 Trinity errors to score their run, and had the tying run at third base and the winning run at second when the batter grounded out to Tabeling at shortstop to end the game.

Trinity (7-4) broke a 4-game losing string and will be home to Greenwood Christian on Thursday.

Seymour bounces back versus Brown County

After a 3-2 loss to Oldenburg on Monday, Seymour bounced back against Brown County on Tuesday, coming away with a 5-0 sweep.

Brooke Schafstall won at one singles 6-1, 6-0; Sandy Cerino won at two singles 6-1, 6-1; and Kirby Hill won at three singles 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.

At one doubles, Avery Ragon and Mallory Moore won 7-5, 7-9, 10-8, and at two doubles, Elise Hartung and Madalyn Baurle won 6-1, 6-0.

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday at Madison.

Golf

Seymour battles tough with No. 9 Bloomington South

The Seymour boys golf team had a tough challenge on Monday when the Owls went up to Bloomington South to take on the No. 9-ranked Panthers.

South was able to win the match by shooting a 155 compared to Seymour’s 185.

Owen Marshall led the way for the Owls, shooting a 40 on the day. Ethan Dippold followed that up with a 44, Andon Self shot a 48, both Noah Surface and Ty Stuckwisch shot 53s and Trevor Alberring shot a 55.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday at the Bedford North Lawrence Invitational.
