Trinity Lutheran boys out-pointed by Franklin

Jack Marksberry pumped in 20 points, but the Trinity Lutheran boys basketball team could not keep up with Franklin and lost 69-58 Thursday night.

Trinity (5-11) fell behind 17-14 after the first quarter and trailed 34-27 at the half but could never quite mount a catch-up rally. Franklin, a Class 4A school, presented too much of a challenge for Class A Trinity.

The Grizzly Cubs are 6-10 and countered Marksberry’s output with evenly split scoring. Franklin had three players in double figures and six players with at least 7 points.

Trinity’s other scorers were Hudson Norton with 13 points, Tyler Goecker with nine, Mitchell Hackman with seven, Jacob Sabotin with five and Sage Broughton and Kade Hill with two points each.

The Cougars next play Tuesday night at home at 7:30 against Greenwood Christian.
