Braves girls win, Tigers lose

The Brownstown Central girls outscored Bloomington North 25-12 in the first quarter and rolled to a 54-26 win on the Cougars’ floor in Bloomington on Tuesday night.

The Braves increased their lead to 42-15 at the half, and each team scored only two points in the third period. North scored in single digits in three of the four quarters.

The Braves (14-6) had balanced scoring with Katherine Benter scoring 16, while Emma Klinge and Maddy Hackman scored 12 each, Kalee Borden five, Hannah Stahl four, Kelsey Wischmeier three and Avery Koch two.

Brownstown’s next game is Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at West Washington.

Crothersville girls lose to Austin

Addy Cole contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds, but the Crothersville girls basketball team couldn’t overcome high scoring from a trio of visiting Austin players and lost 68-49 on Tuesday night.

Austin raced to a 16-4 first quarter lead and was on top 39-14 at halftime before the Tigers fought back somewhat in the second half with Kennadi Lakins helping with nine points and 11 rebounds and Grace Wilson adding nine more points.

Austin was led by Misti Kimberlin, who threw down 27 points. Maci Furnish and Sarah Robbins supported her with 13 points apiece.

The other scorers for the Tigers were Zoe Spangler with eight points and Ella Plasse with five (plus nine rebounds).

Crothersville plays again tonight for the third day in a row due to rescheduling as a result of the coronavirus at home at 6 p.m. against South Central.
