Gordon K. Butler, 88, of Crothersville, IN, passed away at 9:10 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at his home.

Gordon was born Wednesday, February 17, 1932, at home in Crothersville. He was the son of Gordon E. Butler and Amy (Kingsbury), Butler.

Gordon was a 1950 Crothersville High School graduate and received his mechanical engineering degree from Purdue in 1954. He retired from Cummins Engine Company after 43 years of employment and worked as a consultant for Cal Therm.

On December 26, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Crothersville, Gordon married Wanda Rose (Ratliff) Butler, who passed away on August 5, 2019.

Gordon was a member of Crothersville United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Schneck Medical Center Hospital Foundation Board, John Purdue Club, Purdue Alumni Club, served as a Crothersville Community School Trustee, and as Crothersville Town Clerk. Gordon was an avid Purdue sports fan and loved to tailgate. He was also a Crothersville Tigers fan too. He enjoyed planning the mystery trips that he planned for Wanda, Leon, and Benale, the B-M-W reunions. He looked forward to attending his grandchildren’s events and always wanted his family to have a good time.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Shere Coomler of Crothersville, IN, Becky Butler of Crothersville, IN, Kelly (Dale) Schmelzle of Crothersville, IN Kristy (Greg) Wright of Greenwood, IN, 12 grandchildren, Amy K. Schleter, Sara Salas, Eric Prewitt, Julie Lewis, Derick Lewis, Lea Ann Boicourt, Erin Burns, Jessica Mount, Laiken Howard, Paityn Kelly, Daniela Wright, and Trevor Wright, and 20 great-grandchildren and 1 brother Dr. Joe (Caroline) Butler of Crothersville, IN.

Pastor Brynen Chitwood will conduct graveside funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Crothersville Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville.

Please follow the CDC’s recommendations and guidelines while attending the visitation and funeral, face masks are required per state mandates.
