Police continue to investigate the recent recovery of a utility task vehicle reported stolen in March from the Crothersville area.

The recovery of the UTV by county and Crothersville officers occurred after police received a report Sunday that someone had been seen driving it in the area of County Road 125S in the Uniontown area, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Following that lead, a county narcotics officer — from a driveway — was able to spot the UTV parked in tall grass behind a barn.

Police contacted the property owners and received permission to search the property.

The property owners told police a friend of their son had driven the UTV to their home and wanted to park it there.

Police said the property owners were not aware the UTV was stolen and cooperated with police during the investigation. Their son also was interviewed about the UTV and who had brought it to the property.

No charges will be requested against the property owners, police said, and no one else has been arrested as of Friday morning, but charges are expected in the future.

County Officer Zach Elliott and Crothersville Officer Jonathon Tabor assisted the narcotics officer, who was not named.
