Verla B. Maxie, 82, of Crothersville, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 1:10 p.m. at her home on Monday, August 19, 2019.

Verla was born April 9, 1937, in her home at Mt. Vernon, KY. She was the daughter of Homer and Opal (McKinney) Norton, both who preceded her in death.

Verla was a Mt. Vernon High School graduate. On December 15, 1956, she married Ray Maxie who survives in Crothersville, IN.

She worked at the Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour, IN, Morgan Foods, and was a cook at Crothersville Community Schools for 27 years. She was a member of Crothersville United Methodist Church, an excellent cook, enjoyed working in her yard, and being outside.

She is survived by her son Dennis (Sherri) Maxie of Crothersville, IN, 6 grandchildren, and one brother, Garl (Bonnie) Norton of Crothersville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Elaine Maxie on June 28, 1978.

Pastor David Schill will conduct a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 26, 2019 at Adams Family Funeral Homes and Crematory in Crothersville with a burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
