Phil and Linda Swords of Vernon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their daughters from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Family Life Center at Vernon Baptist Church.
Phil and the former Linda Carney were married Nov. 3, 1968, at the Christian church in North Vernon. Pastor Harold Barnett officiated.
They are the parents of two daughters, Kelly Stockelman and Kara (Steve) Huber, both of Vernon. They have six grandchildren.
Linda retired from GTE/Contel Phone Co. in 2000 after 30-plus years of service. She was a legal assistant for attorney Michael L. Rogers before retiring in 2010 after 23 years of service.
Phil retired from Jennings County Schools in 2018 after 18 years of service.
Both are members of Vernon Baptist Church and enjoy spending time with their family and church family.
