Salmon 50th wedding anniversary

Melvin Leroy and Connie Sue Salmon of Seymour will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Shipshewana.

Melvin and the former Connie Engel were married April 28, 1968, at Seymour First Church of the Nazarene in Seymour.

They are the parents of two children, Owen C. Salmon of Medora and Julie K. Salmon Gardner of Columbus. They have four grandchildren, Zachariah Johnson and Megan, Kaitlyn and Jordan Salmon, and one great-grandchild, Raylynn Grace Johnson.

Melvin worked at H.O. Canfield (Pantasote) in Seymour for 25 years and retired from NTN Driveshaft in Columbus after 13 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and did a 13-month tour of duty in Korea in 1964 and 1965. He has been a member of the American Legion for 42 years and is a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association.

Connie worked at Seymour Hearing Aid Center for 33 years and retired from A Hearing Service in Seymour as the patient care coordinator after 11 years. She has been a jewelry clerk at Walmart Supercenter in Seymour for 22 years. She has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655 Ladies Auxiliary for 50 years, serving as president in 1975, and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Past Presidents Club 655. She also is a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 Auxiliary.
