Robert and Marilyn Benter of Brownstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 1.
A family gathering was conducted April 3, and the day was spent attending the morning worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Wegan, lunch, family photos and sharing family memories.
Robert Benter and the former Marilyn Wischmeier were married Easter Sunday, April 1, 1956, at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kenneth A. Martin.
The couple have five children, Kathy (Robert) Spieker, Karen (Marvin) Holle, Kay (Leon) Klosterman, Kevin (Tammie) Benter and Karla (Patrick) Rieckers; 12 grandchildren, Kari (Ty) Schwade, Mark (Jordan) Spieker, Lisa (Travis) Price, Kelly (Matthew) Klosterman, Kayla Holle, Amy (Clint) Hackman, Jill (Chad) Price, Kim (Jacob) Florine, Kyle and Ryan Benter and Kasandra and Derek Rieckers.
They also are Pa and Granny to 12 great-grandchildren, Allison Schwade, Austin Campbell, Kylie and Trey Price, Lindsey and Olivia Klosterman, Charlie and Will Hackman, Emmy and Drew Price and Simon and Samuel Florine.
Robert is a retired grain and dairy farmer, a retired agent for First Farm Mutual Insurance and a former member of Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department.
Marilyn is a retired farm wife, homemaker and a member of St. Paul Wegan Ladies Aid.
Both are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
