A 25-year old Seymour man was arrested after a 15-year-old girl’s mother reported a possible inappropriate relationship.
Casey J.R. Durham was arrested early Monday by Seymour police on a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor. His arrest occurred after the girl’s mother reported Sunday her daughter was possibly involved with him.
Durham was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 12:26 a.m. with no bond but was released Wednesday morning on his own recognizance, a jailer said. His initial hearing in Jackson Circuit Court had not been set as of Wednesday afternoon.
Detective Troy Munson said Durham and the girl had met two days before reportedly having sex outside the girl’s residence.
Durham and the 15-year-old live near each other in the South Park Street area and had seen each other around but didn’t know each other before earlier this month, Munson said.
There were at least two incidents of sexual contact happening within a 24-hour period late July 17 and early July 18, Munson added.
The case was worked by Officer Mat Carver, who Munson said did a “great” job of investigating the complaint and making an arrest quickly.
“During interviews with the victim and suspect, Officer Carver learned the two of them had been involved and having sexual contact with each other,” Munson said. “The suspect, Casey Durham, admitted to engaging in sexual contact with the female, and he was arrested.”
