The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees received a report about Crothersville programs and activities from Crothersville assistant Cindy Huckleberry during a meeting Monday at the Crothersville Library.

Library administrator Mary Reed reported that 2016 capital projects include more security cameras in Seymour, additional self-check machines in Crothersville and Medora, new carpet in the Seymour Kidz Korner and an upgrade of the lighting at the Seymour Library.

Capital projects in 2017 may include a small group meeting media table for Seymour, replacing meeting room and staff chairs in Seymour and replacing carpet in Medora.

The board was told Crothersville assistant Georgiana Boss has resigned effective April 1. The library will host an open house for Boss from 5 to 6:30 p.m. March 31 at the Crothersville Library, 120 W. Main St.

The board reviewed the displays and handouts policy, approved surplussing 11 sections of tall shelving from the Seymour Library and discussed information submitted in the 2015 library annual report.

In 2015, the library had a 12 percent decrease in materials circulation but experienced a 15 percent increase in computer and wireless use. Library staff answered more than 29,000 reference questions, more than 24,400 people attended library programs throughout the year and 3,000 people used a meeting room for outside meetings.

The next regular library board meeting is at 5 p.m. April 18 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
