Owls down Oldenburg Academy

COLUMBUS

The Seymour girls tennis team defeated Oldenburg Academy 4-1 on Friday in a makeup match on Columbus North’s courts.

At No. 1 singles, Seymour’s Hallie Crenshaw defeated Angela Wanstrath 6-4, 6-1.

Lou-Anne Horaru picked up an Owls win at No. 2 singles by downing Meghan Gray 6-2, 6-4.

Owls seniors Lindsey Hume and Emma Wood won their No. 1 doubles match against Ashley Sedler and Anya Smith 6-0, 6-1.

In the No. 2 doubles spot, Addie Rudge and Katie O’Mara bested Sarah Preston and Hanna Hurn 6-1, 6-2.

Oldenburg picked up a lone win at No. 2 singles, with Margaret Glaser beating Megan Barule 7-5, 6-2.

Today, the Owls (9-3) host Jackson County opponents Brownstown Central (4-8).

Braves fall to North Harrison

RAMSEY

The Brownstown Central girls tennis team couldn’t muster a set in a 5-0 loss to Mid-Southern Conference foes North Harrison on Thursday.

Laken Reynolds fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Claudia Sibrel 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and Miranda McClusky 6-0, 6-0 for No. 3.

In doubles play, Jordan Trowbridge and Bridget Hall dropped the No. 1 position 6-1, 6-2 while Sydney Cockerham and Brooklyn Wingler lost 6-2, 6-4.

Softball

Braves fall to Pirates in six

CHARLESTOWN

The Brownstown Central softball team fell to Charlestown 15-5 in six inning Thursday in a Mid-Southern Conference matchup.

An RBI double by Lisa Scott scored Beth Wayman to put the Braves up 1-0 in the first.

Trailing 5-1 in the third inning, the Braves rallied.

An RBI single by Katelyn Gray to right field got the Brownstown offense rolling.

With two outs, Leah Stidam and Ariana Benge each hit RBI singles.

Stidam scored on a dropped third strike with Clare Poulton at the plate.

The Pirates wouldn’t allow another run and tacked on four in the fifth and two in the sixth inning to close the game.

The Braves dropped to 4-11 on the season.

Boys golf

Crothersville brings three to Chariots Run

LACONIA

With three members at a four-way meet at Chariots Run, the Crothersville boys golf team shot for personal bests Thursday.

Will Amick carded 63, Jacob James 66 and Brandon Riley 72 on the afternoon.

Borden and South Central each combined for 179, while Henryville scored 185 on the afternoon.

Riley Gray of Borden and South Central’s Brayden Stopinski tied for medalist at 42 (+6).
