Harold Dean “Stretch” Wineinger, 85, of Seymour passed away surrounded by his family on September 19, 2024, at his home. Stretch was born on October 22, 1938, In Seymour to Harold ‘Dutch” and Dora (Topie) Wineinger. He was a class of 1956 graduate of Shields High School and continued to chair their reunions. From 1956-1959, he served in the United States Navy. On July 29, 1962, he married Patty Ellen (Lucas) Wineinger. In 1992, he retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years of service.

Stretch was a member of the American Legion Post No. 89, Loyal Order of the Moose No. 398, VFW 1925 Men’s Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Past-Presidents Club, Seymour Catholic Men’s Club, AmVets Post No. 7, NARFE Chapter 1612, AARP and the Indiana State Secretary’s Club. He joined the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #655 in 1959 working his way through the chairs, he began serving as the Aerie Secretary in 1977 and continued until his death. He also served as the Indiana State FOE Secretary beginning in 1998. He was rewarded for his dedicated service to the Eagles by being inducted into the Indiana State FOE Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Grand Aerie FOE Hall of Fame in 2005. He served many roles in the local, state and Grand Aerie’s, including Past Worthy President, Honorary Past State President, and Chairman of the Pension Board.

Survivors include wife Patty; children: Terri Lyn Marsh, Mike (Mindy) Wineinger, Stephanie Harris and Holly (JR) Posey; sister, Iona Lambert; grandchildren: Laura (Nate) Worton, Matthew (Linda) Posey, Kimberly (Clay) Fague, Allison Posey, Isaiah Wineinger and Noah Wineinger; great grandchildren: Ryley Marsh, Laylee Worton, Matison Spencer, Alex Spencer, Isabella Grace Doyle and Annabelle Posey; niece, Heather Hartzell; nephew, Robert Lambert. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons Justin and Dustin Marsh, son-in-law, Kenny Harris, brother-in-law, David Lambert; aunts: Doris, Hazel, Irene and Thelma; uncles: Harry, Junior, and an infant brother and sister.

Funeral services for Stretch will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the Voss &Sons Funeral and Cremation Service with Reverend Andrew J. Currao officiating. Burial with military honors will follow immediately after the service at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time-of-service Saturday at the funeral home.
