SHS band members compete in state solo and ensemble contest

Members of the Seymour High School Band participated in Indiana State School Music Assocation’s State Solo Ensemble contest Feb. 24 at North Central High School and Westfield Middle School in Indianapolis.

Soloists who received a gold rating are Bryce Peters trumpet; Blake Gambrel and Dayton Newby, flute; Jordan Stevens, tuba; Macey Moss, Ismael Santiago and Alvaro Bornot, clarinet; Lucas Jablonski, french horn; Aria Massengale, trombone; Abram Yee, Ben Beavers and Axel Arrona, marimba; Brady Burgmeier, Ben Beavers and Zach Kriete, snare and Angel Garcia, multi percussion.

Students who received a silver rating are Audrey Newkirk, clarinet, Kaden Greathouse, alto saxophone and Angel Garcia, marimba.

Students that participated in the contest are Ismael Santiago, Eli Gonzalez, Mallorie Misamore and Alvaro Bornot, clarinet quartet; Daniela Rodriguez, Audrey Newkirk, Audrey Linville and Aneesha Linville, clarinet quartet; Lucas Jablonski, Lyndsey Greenawalt, Audri Engle and Tori Fee, french horn quartet and Bryce Peters, Ben Marks, Aubri Engle, Katie Cottrill and Gavin Wilson, brass quintet.

Seymour High School band students are directed by Kevin Cottrill, Tim Johnston and Debbie Carroll.
