Seymour Common Council meets Monday night, mayor to give State of City address

The Seymour Common Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at city hall, 301-309 N. Chestnut St., Seymour.

Mayor Matt Nicholson is scheduled to give his State of the City address reviewing 2023 accomplishments and plans for this year.

The agenda includes second readings of ordinances creating a new police department budget line item for janitorial services and another putting financing in place for a wastewater treatment project.

Ordinances to be introduced include ones rezoning properties in the 1300 block of Colonial Drive, 641 and 639 Barnard Lane and 643 S. Airport Road from urban residential and general commercial to general industrial; 923 E. Fourth St. from urban residential to highway commercial; and a portion of property in the 1500 block of Tipton Street at Burkart Boulevard from urban residential to highway commercial.

The council also will consider ordinances vacating Airport Road between Stadium Drive and Westgate Road behind Seymour High School and two others amending city code regarding park board duties and tree regulations.

The council will introduce a resolution approving the transfer of American Rescue Plan funds.
