Two Chicago, Illinois, women were arrested Tuesday by Seymour police on drug charges during a traffic stop.

Margaret Tran, 21, faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Amy Vo, 22, faces a charge of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster with the Seymour Police Department.

He said the arrests stem from interdiction officers stopping a passenger vehicle that was traveling south on Interstate 65 for a traffic violation.

Upon contact with the driver, Tran, officers noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Foster said.

Officers deployed K-9 Koni and developed a probable cause to search the vehicle, Foster said.

Foster said during the search of the vehicle, officers located psilocybin, commonly known as mushrooms, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Vo was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 11:51 a.m. and remained there Wednesday without bond pending her initial court hearing.

Tran was booked into the jail at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday and released on her own recognizance at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday.
