Three arrested on various charges over weekend

Three local women were arrested over the Memorial Day weekend on various felony and misdemeanor charges after traffic stops in Seymour, police report.

The most recent involved the arrest of Brandy Michele Mix, 47, of Scottsburg on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Seymour Police Department Lt. C.J. Foster said Mix’s arrest stems from city interdiction officers stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation Sunday in the area of Kessler Park on the city’s southeast side.

Upon contacting the driver, later identified as Mix, officers noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Foster said.

While speaking with Mix, officers received permission to search the vehicle. During that search, they found drug paraphernalia. Mix also told officers she had methamphetamine on her person, Foster said.

Mix was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 9:30 p.m. Sunday and was being held Tuesday morning without bond pending her initial hearing.

On Friday, Seymour interdiction officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the area of Sprenger Road, also on the southeast side of the city, Foster said.

Upon running the license of the driver, later identified as Penny Sue Ruvira, 42, of Seymour, officers learned she was a habitual traffic violator.

Ruvira was arrested for operating a vehicle while being a habitual traffic violator, a Level 5 felony.

Officers spoke with a passenger in Ruvira’s vehicle, identified as Felicea Ann Booker, 49, also of Seymour. Booker admitted to having methamphetamine and marijuana on her person and was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.

Ruvira was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 5:42 p.m. Friday and was being held there Tuesday morning without bond. Booker was booked into the jail at 6:03 p.m. Friday and being held without bond Tuesday.
