The Adult Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. June 16 at the Brownstown Public Library, 120 E. Spring St., to discuss “Morning Glory” by LaVyrle Spencer.

Love in a stranger’s eyes … in town, they called her “Crazy Widow Dinsmore.” Elly was no stranger to their ridicule. She had been an outsider all of her life, growing up in a boarded-up old house under the strict eye of her eccentric grandparents. Now, she was all alone with two little boys to raise and a third child on the way.

He drifted into Whitney, Georgia, one lazy afternoon in the summer of 1941,l hoping to put his lonely past behind him. He yearned for the tenderness he had never known, the home he had never had. All he needed was for someone to give him a chance.

Then he saw her classified ad: Wanted — A husband. When he stepped across Elly Dinsmore’s cluttered yard, Will Parker knew he had come home at last.

The club is designed to provide an informal, congenial atmosphere for patrons 18 and older to share their literary interpretations of the current book selection. Everyone should read the month’s selection before the meeting, but feel free to attend even if you haven’t finished the book as long as you don’t mind hearing how it ends.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussion, but listeners are welcome.

Light refreshments are served by individuals from the group on a volunteer basis. Extra copies of the book selection are available one month in advance at the library circulation desk.

Registration is requested and may be done at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 812-358-2853. Karen Raymer leads the program.
