Legal Aid will have a free walk-in clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. June 7 at Montgomery, Elsner and Pardieck LLP, 308 W. Second St., Seymour.

The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program utilizes local volunteer attorneys offering free legal consultations to low-income individuals who might not otherwise be able to afford the counsel of an attorney.

Individuals coming to the clinic can expect to receive a 10-minute consultation to answer general and eviction questions, legal information or other limited pro se assistance or advice on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.

The general advice clinic the first hour will include the civil legal matters of adoptions, advanced directives, family law, guardianships, landlord/tenant, powers of attorney, protective orders, simple wills and small estates. No criminal law questions will be answered.

The eviction clinic the last hour will include legal advice on the residential eviction process, negotiating with your landlord, obtaining free rental assistance, legal defenses to an eviction, damages hearings and money judgments and sealing of eviction records.

Legal Aid is a nonprofit agency serving Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Rush and Shelby counties.
