Easter is April 9, and events to celebrate the holiday start this weekend.
Saturday
10 a.m.: Free community Easter egg hunt for children up to age 12 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 333 S. Chestnut St., Seymour.
11 a.m.: Easter egg hunt at Brownstown First Baptist Church, 1095 N. State Road 135, Brownstown. Babies through sixth grade are welcome to hunt eggs with prize baskets awarded in each group. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.
2 to 3 p.m.: Easter egg hunt for ages infant to 14 at the field behind Taco Bell, 2017 Outlet Blvd., Seymour. There will be more than 3,000 filled eggs, Taco Bell prizes, candy and photos with the Easter bunny. Kids also can enter the Easter basket drawing. Winners will be announced at the hunt.
3 to 5 p.m.: Free Easter Eggstravaganza for the family at Central Christian Church, 1434 W. Second St., Seymour. There will be games, inflatables, an egg hunt, prizes and more. There also will be a bicycle giveaway, and you must be registered and present to win. Register online at centralseymour.org.
Sunday
4 to 6 p.m.: Journey to the Cross for children and families at Trinity United Methodist Church, 333 S. Chestnut St., Seymour. Experience Easter like never before, as you’ll taste, see and even smell what life was like when Jesus was born. You’ll find stations and activities for all ages.
April 8
9 a.m.: The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department, 92.7 WXKU, 99.3 WZZB and Rose Acre Farms are sponsoring the annual community Easter egg hunt at Gaiser Park, 211 S. Park Drive, Seymour. The Mighty Mini Donuts food truck will be set up and the Easter bunny will be ready to take photos starting at 9 a.m. The egg hunt will be at 10 a.m. with four age groups from 0 to 12, and the grand prize for each group will be a bicycle from Guardian Bikes. Bring your own basket.
10 a.m.: Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County and the Judd family are partnering for the third year for the Tom Judd Memorial Eggstra Special Easter Egg Hunt for children and adults with special needs at the playground at Emerson Elementary School, 500 Emerson Drive, Seymour. Ages 0 to 10 at 10 a.m. and ages 11 and up at 10:30 a.m. Prizes will be given out, and the Easter bunny, Flash the miniature therapy horse and other special guests will make an appearance. Bring your own basket.
10 a.m.: Easter egg hunt at Reddington Christian Church, 10516 N. U.S. 31, Reddington.
10 a.m.: Easter egg hunt at First Baptist Church, 505 Community Drive, Seymour. There will be music, the Easter story in English and Spanish, door prizes, photos with the Easter bunny and refreshments. Bring your own basket. In case of rain, the event will be moved inside.
10 to 11 a.m.: Easter egg hunt for children up to 12 years old at Hoosier Christian Village, 621 S. Sugar St., Brownstown. There will be one grand prize-winning egg for each age group.
10 to 12 p.m.: Easter egg hunt at Jackson Masonic Lodge 146, 1818 N. Ewing St., Seymour. Hot dogs, chips and drinks also will be served.
11 a.m.: Jackson County Sheriff’s Department’s annual Easter egg hunt in the field next to the Jackson County Jail, 150 E. State Road 250, Brownstown. There will be 8,000 filled eggs, prizes, bikes for each age group (0 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12) and an appearance by the Easter bunny.
11 a.m.: Easter egg hunt at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene, 5858 N. Cleveland St., Kurtz. The Easter bunny will make an appearance, and free sack lunches will be provided.
Noon: Community Church Brownstown’s Easter egg hunt at the Jackson-Washington State Forest, 1278 E. State Road 250, Brownstown. There also will be hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks. Follow the signs to the museum shelter house across from the lake.
Noon: Easter egg hunt at Medora Masonic Lodge 328, 95 N. Jackson St., Medora. Arrive early to register for prizes. There will be a drawing for bicycles, and 100 eggs will have a dollar coin enclosed. Hot dog, chips and a drink will be available for a $3 donation.
Noon: Lunch at noon and Easter egg hunt at 12:30 p.m. at Freetown Church of Christ, 7077 N. State Road 135, Freetown. Lunch is free and open to anyone who would like to attend. The egg hunt is for kids infant through fifth grade.
1 p.m.: Easter egg hunt at Seymour Christian Church, 915 Kasting Road, Seymour.
2 p.m.: Freedom Fireworks’ third annual Easter egg hunt on the lawn of the Jackson County Courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown. The free event will feature 20,000 eggs filled with toys and candy and more than 100 prizes, including a drawing for boys and girls bicycles for each age group. Participants may start signing up at 11 a.m. The Easter bunny also will make an appearance for photo opportunities. The rain makeup date is April 15.
April 9
10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.: “Jesus: An Easter Drama” at Lighthouse Tabernacle, 500 N. Armstrong St., Crothersville. There will be a drama, singing, sign language and more.
3 to 4 p.m.: Easter egg hunt at McDonald’s, 913 E. Tipton St., Seymour. There also will be prizes, and you can meet the Easter bunny.
