Lorene Elizabeth Baughman, age 91, of Freetown, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Baughman was of the Baptist faith and attended various local churches.
She was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Star.
Lorene loved Jesus, and she cherished her family. She loved camping and traveling with her husband, and she also loved cooking holiday dinners for her family, family cookouts, mowing grass, and garage sales. Lorene was dedicated in treating her family to Kiddie Day at the Jackson County Fair for more than 60 years.
Born on October 14, 1931, in Seymour, Lorene was the daughter of Hada and Orpha Killion Fleenor, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 12, 1951, in Seymour, she married Orville Morris Baughman, and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2006.
Survivors include two sons: Lanny (Donna) Baughman of Freetown, and Bill (Barb Switzer) Baughman of Seymour; one daughter, Dianna (John) Kreutzjans of Freetown; 13 grandchildren: Amber (Greg) Garriott, Bobby Baughman, Eric (Lauren) Baughman, Briana (Caleb) Silvers, Jacob Gray, Israel Gray, Casey Baughman, Caleb Baughman, Jarod Kinworthy, Megan (Dustyn) Murray, Jarrod (Ali) Galloway, Michael Kreutzjans, and Daniel (Erica) Kreutzjans; 35 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lorene was also preceded in death by four brothers: Eugene Fleenor, Marion Fleenor, Ora Fleenor, and Bobby Fleenor; three sisters: Mary Baurle, Fern Davis, and Loretta Mize; and close friends: Millie Terrell and Rose Davis.
Funeral services for Lorene Elizabeth Baughman will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with great-grandson, Daymond Reynolds, and grandson, Eric Baughman, officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
A private family graveside service will be held at Smallwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Lorene’s family to attend Kiddie Day at the Jackson County Fair in her honor.
