Mr. Jonnie Mack Whicker, age 71, of Lexington, Indiana entered this life on March 26, 1951 in London, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Farris and Ethel York Whicker. He had resided in Jefferson County for the past 69 years and was a 1969 graduate of Southwestern High School. He was retired after 40 years of service with Reliance Electric Company in Madison as a machine operator. On June 25, 1999 he was united in marriage to Donna Jean Smith in Carrollton, Kentucky. Mack as he was known enjoyed playing cards, watching old westerns, watching IU Basketball, fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, reading and he was an avid fan of Gunsmoke. Mack’s greatest joy was watching his grandson, Elijah play baseball and pursue his racing dreams. He was a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother, uncle, and brother in law. Jonnie died on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 2:55 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Jonnie will be missed by his loving wife, Donna J. Smith Whicker of Lexington, Indiana; his loving daughters, Ginger Whicker of Madison, Indiana, Delena Knoke and her husband, Jason of Columbus, Indiana; his adoring grandson, Elijah Knoke of Columbus, Indiana; his brothers, Roger Whicker of Kingston, Georgia, Ronnie Whicker and his wife Terry of Hanover, Indiana, Danny Whicker of Hanover, Indiana; his sister, Sue Armand and her husband Rick of Madison, Indiana; his sisters in law and brothers in laws, Beverly Nichols and her husband, Terry of Columbus, Indiana, Teresa Lytle and her husband, Jeff of Austin, Indiana, Diana Gray of Seymour, Indiana, Donald “Doc” Smith and his wife, Tina of Lexington, Indiana; his beloved dog, Harper; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Farris Whicker, died August 16, 1988, his mother, Ethel York Whicker, died June 14, 2009, his sister, Jewell Whicker Crook, died February 18, 2019, his brother, Charles Wayne Whicker, died August 22, 2017, his father in law and his mother in law, Donald A. Smith, died January 7, 2017 and Paula J. Dixon Smith, died May 29, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Entombment will be at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana.
