An incident involving a shot fired into a home on Seymour’s west side Tuesday afternoon may not have been intentional and could have been the result of a health issue, police report.

Seymour Police Department officers were called to the 800 block of West McDonald Street at about 4:20 p.m. in reference to a shot being fired into a home, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster.

Patrol officers initially investigated the incident and were able to determine the shot had come from a neighboring home, Foster said.

Detectives were then called to the scene, and a Jackson Superior Court I search warrant was obtained to search the neighboring home, Foster said.

After conducting interviews, investigators were able to determine the shot was not intentional and may have even been the result of a medical issue.

The case has been forwarded to the office of Jackson County Prosecutor Jeff Chalfant for review.
