Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge will celebrate wetlands, wetland wildlife and the coming of spring with special programs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 18 around the refuge visitor center, 12985 E. U.S. 50, Seymour.

Wetland Day activities will include wetland critter dipping for children as they wade in shallow water with dip nets, a guided dry land hike in a wetland area at 10 a.m. and a celebration of the 120th birthday of the National Wildlife Refuge System at noon.

Those wanting to dip wetland critters and look for frogs should bring rubber boots or old tennis shoes. Volunteers also are invited to come out that day and pick up litter around the edges of the refuge wetlands to make them safe places for wildlife. In the event of thunderstorms, all outdoor events will be postponed.
