SEYMOUR
Evelyn Carol Tatlock, age 78, of Seymour, formerly of Florence, Arizona, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn was a member of Florence Baptist Church in Arizona.
She was a postal worker and rural mail carrier, serving R. R. #2 of Seymour and R. R. #1 of Crothersville.
Evelyn was a worthy matron of the Eastern Star Lodge of Florence, Arizona. She loved spending time with her family and traveling throughout the United States. She also loved elk hunting with her late husband, George, and she even shot her own elk. Evelyn enjoyed taking hot air balloon rides, sewing, making cactus jelly and jam, attending craft shows, and taking care of her dogs, Sammy and Shammie.
Born on August 13, 1944, in Scottsburg, she was the daughter of John and Gladys Applegate Daily, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 1, 1961, Evelyn married Gerald Joe Tatlock, and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1993. She then married George McMurrick, Sr. on August 26, 1996, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2021.
Survivors include two sons: Michael (Peggy) Tatlock of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Bill (Mary) Tatlock of Florence, Arizona; two daughters: Sharon (Roger) Bond of Norman, and Karen (Greg) Koester of Seymour; two stepsons: George McMurrick, Jr. of Union, Washington, and Daniel McMurrick of Eugene, Oregon; two stepdaughters: Eve McMurrick of Jefferson, Oregon, and Anne McMurrich of Florence, Arizona; one sister, Helen Carnes; grandchildren: Amanda (Tyler) Robertson, Kevin (Stephanie) Bond, Daniel (Victoria) Koester, Laura Koester, Nick Tatlock, Travis Tatlock (Alyssa Mullens), Hannah (Scott) Raney, Stephen (Amy) Leza, Ralph Leza, and Christina (Eric) Parvi; great-grandchildren: Wyatt Robertson, Jasper Robertson, Lydia Bond, Steven Bond, Julianne Raney, Clara Parvi, Mikey Leza, Steven Leza, and Joseph Leza; one great-great-grandchild, Christian Leza; brother-in-law, Robert Tatlock; and sisters-in-law: Debbie Daily, Rae Faubush, and Gayle Sedgwick.
Evelyn was also preceded in death by one sister, Janet Cochran; two brothers: Marvin “Gene” Daily, and Robert Daily; and brothers-in-law, Bill Carnes, and Preston Cochran.
Funeral services for Evelyn Carol Tatlock will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Russell Chapel Cemetery, Crothersville.
Memorials may be given to Russel Chapel Cemetery perpetual care fund or Lutheran Community Home activities fund.
