Mark W. McClellan, 71, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:58 a.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conduct at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, February 27, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the rosary being recited at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.

Born on November 21, 1951, in Greencastle, Mark was the loving son of William and Jean (Sauer) McClellan. He was united in marriage to Juanita Gerth on April 5, 1975 at St. Joe’s, Four Corners. She survives.

Mark graduated from South Decatur High School in 1970 and graduated from Ball State with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1974. He began his career with Jennings County Farm Bureau in June of 1974 and retired in August of 2018 with the same company although it had changed names. He began working as a feed salesman, mill manager, then began his final 42 years driving a petroleum truck throughout the county. In 1984, he received the Petroleum Division sales Achievement Award for Southeast Region in Recognition of superior sales.

Mark was a beekeeper for 30 years that provided honey for the county and surrounding areas. He was always willing to share his knowledge with anyone interested in beekeeping, especially with his grandchildren. He was a member of The Beekeepers of Indiana, served on the Honeybee Committee in 2002 and honed his skills by attending many of the bee schools in Indianapolis.

Mark was a 3rd degree member of the 4 Corners Knights of Columbus Council No. 10422 since August 24, 1995 where he served as Trustee. On June 4, 2000 he was initiated into Father Rivet Fourth Degree Assembly No. 247 where he faithfully served many offices, most prominently the offices of Faithful Navigator, Trustee, Color Corps Commander, and Historian.

He served as a director for the Farm Bureau Inc. for 25 years. Inducted into the Hayden Gallery of Agricultural Leaders in 2019.

Mark enjoyed gardening and selling his produce at the Farmer’s Market during his retirement. He served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and most of all he enjoyed all the time spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Juanita McClellan of North Vernon; survivors include children, Erin (Ryan) Siebert of Martinsville, and Martin McClellan from Sherman Oaks, CA; sister, Joyce (Steve) Click of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Olivia, Britton, Xavier, Augustine, Rowan, and Fenton Siebert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean McClellan; brother, Roger McClellan.
