Donald Lee “Hickory” Kinworthy, age 86, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Kinworthy was a member of Ratcliff Grove Christian Church.

Don worked at Cummins Engine Co. for 34 years, and he was also a farmer. He was active in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958, and he was a member of the Diesel Workers Union.

Don loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them. He also cherished his memories of Cynthia, loved traveling with his family, fishing, camping, and listening and talking on his CB radio.

Born on April 9, 1936, at his home in Freetown, he was the son of Ralph and Nellie Mae Klein Kinworthy, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 16, 1959, he married Cynthia Ratcliff, and she preceded him in death on February 20, 1998. Don then married Rosemary Fields Charles on January 5, 2001, and she survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include two sons: Brian (Janice) Kinworthy of Seymour, and Jared Kinworthy of Seymour; two daughters: Maria (Frank) Fisher of Norman, and Rhonda (Daniel) Wilson of Freetown; 14 grandchildren: Levi Nehrt, D.J. Wilson, Erin Lynn Bradford, Devin Kinworthy, Reuben Nehrt, Ethan Wilson, Abby Kinworthy, Jesse White, Shara Jackson, Drailynn Gay, Jaidyn Nichols, Kylei Nichols, Addie Mae Kinworthy, and Zander Kinworthy; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Mr. Kinworthy was also preceded in death by one son, Seth Kinworthy; three great-grandchildren: Michael Bradford, Sebastian Wilson, and Owen Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Josephine Kinworthy; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Betty Kinworthy; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Wilma Kinworthy, Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Arthur Wilkinson.

Funeral services for Donald Lee “Hickory” Kinworthy will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with David Shelton officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.

Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Vets 7.

Memorials may be given to Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
