Sailing 4 Sight event coming to Seymour

Sailing 4 Sight, a 501(c)(3) public charity, will be providing free eye exams and free eyeglasses to homeless and less-fortunate school-age children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4 at Dr. Marcia Monroe’s office, 915 W. Brown St., Seymour.

All area schools are eligible. Contact lenses are not included.

Children should be referred by their school nurse when possible, and parents can contact an event coordinator to schedule an appointment. They require a reliable phone number as part of the child’s registration. They ask that those individuals be on time for their scheduled appointment slot by arriving at least 10 minutes early for the child’s exam.

Appointments for exams are required and set on a first-come, first-served basis with limited availability.

The team of volunteer eye doctor and staff will perform free eye refractions for children, and Sailing 4 Sight will provide free eyeglasses when needed. If the child needs new eyeglasses, the parent or guardian will be provided with all of the necessary instructions of when to pick up eyeglasses at Monroe’s office.

For appointment scheduling or other questions, contact one of the event coordinators, Bill or Nancy Wittlief, at 317-626-2246 or 317-403-2192.
