Carl Robert Bowman, 69, of Crothersville, IN, passed away at 9:24 AM on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville, KY. Carl was born on Friday, March 27, 1953, in Austin, IN to Clarence and Hattie (Mullins) Bowman. He was a 1971 Austin High School graduate.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in education, majoring in health science & mathematics at Indiana State University, and his master’s degree from Indiana University Southeast. He was hired as a teacher at Crothersville Community Schools in 1975 where during his tenure he taught mathematics & physical education, and coached cross country, track, & basketball. After 43 years of teaching, he retired in 2019. After retirement, he was rehired and employed by Crothersville Community Schools to execute their financial state reports. He served as the cross-country coach the entire time he was at Crothersville Community Schools.

He enjoyed tinkering around and working on mechanical projects. He was very generous to ministerial and charitable organizations. He loved spending time with his 3 granddaughters, Sophie, Ellie, Mattie, and his family.

Carl is survived by his 3 children, Benjamin Robert Bowman of Wilmore, KY, Marc Joseph Bowman of Crothersville, IN, and Lacey Joe (Brynton) Howard of Henryville, IN, 3 granddaughters, Sophie, Ellie, and Mattie Howard, 2 brothers, Ronnie Bowman Sr. of Scottsburg, IN and James (Judy) Bowman of Charlestown, IN.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hattie (Mullins) Bowman, brothers, Clarence “Junior” Bowman Jr. & Michael Bowman, and sister, Dorothy “Dot” Bowman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville and after 10:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
